Ozogoche is a mountain community (3,800m above sea level) situated in Chimborazo province in the heart of the Ecuadorian Andes. Bordering on Sangay National Park, Ozogoche is close to the town of Alausí well known for the train which takes visitors to the spectacular rock formation called the ‘Devil’s Nose’.
The community is famous for the massive migrations of Cuvivic birds, which arrive every year in September, for its lakes surrounded by moorlands (paramos), and for its magnificent mountain and rock formations. Activities you can enjoy here include hikes, visits with the community, sport fishing and horseback riding.
The community itself is an interesting mix of traditionally roofed houses and the brightly coloured dress of the local people who apart from making their guests comfortable, are involved in producing their traditional wool crafts.
Ozogoche offers a lodge with accommodation for nine guests in three triple rooms all with private bath and hot water. The lodge also has a restaurant which offers delicious traditional food prepared with locally grown products.
